About Us

N R G Marketplace was founded by Mr. Melusi Moloi, a seasoned farmer and business owner with a long-standing background in the red meat industry. His experience gave him deep insight into the challenges and inequalities within the meat supply chain in South Africa.

In 2019, Mr. Moloi posed a simple yet powerful question: why is it that meat consumed predominantly by Black South Africans in townships and rural areas is often transported under poor conditions, with little regard for food safety, while deliveries to suburban and urban areas strictly adhere to cold-chain standards? This question became the driving force behind the creation of N R G Marketplace.

The business was officially registered in 2024, marking the formal beginning of its mission. By mid-2025, the company secured its flagship location at 1 Biccard Street in Braamfontein, laying the foundation for its physical presence and operations.

Later in 2025, N R G Marketplace welcomed a select group of investors and business partners—individuals and organizations who share the company’s vision and a genuine passion for uplifting South Africa and its communities.

In February 2026, the Braamfontein store received its operating permit and health certification, allowing it to officially open its doors to the public. This milestone ensured that the business could deliver on its promise of quality, safety, and compliance.

Today, residents of Braamfontein have access to a safe, clean, and well-maintained space where they can purchase their favorite beef and lamb offal, chicken, and processed meat products. All products are prepared within the N R G Marketplace production facility and supply chain, adhering to the highest standards of quality and food safety—comparable to those of the country’s most exclusive restaurants and butcheries.

As Mr. Moloi states, “We aim to bring dignity to the treatment and handling of the products loved and consumed by people across all townships and inner cities in Gauteng.”
